i love this arrangement

October 5, 2009

since i was a kid i loved the theme song for the honeymooners.

the arrangement seemed sad though.

like it was crying.

which was always puzzling to me because i knew the show was supposed to be funny.

and it was.

but the arrangement was strange.

i later learned that it was composed by jackie gleason himself.

the song is called meloncholy serenade.

i still scramble to turn the volume up when the honeymooners comes on.

it reminds me of the marathon that plays for new years.

    Dear Ladyplum,

Did you ever hear the theme song from M.A.S.H? Its really weird! The show itself is funny, I laugh and enjoy it, but the theme song (sung softly) goes something like “…suicide is painless; it brings on many changes”

that and the theme from cheers also had a sadness lurking in the music.

    i like meloncholic music.
