cholo tattoos

October 15, 2009

Another Mara Salvatrucha I know very well Mexico’s southern border, there was a time that if you had a tatoo (like my case) you couldn’t go out showing it without having the possibility of being detained by police. This Maras start their journey in Central America and when they pass through Mexico, they hang out at bordertowns such as Suchiate, Cd. Hidalgo and Tapachula using Soconusco’s train,  they go into their final destination (for most of them, the USA). Photographer Isabel Muñoz did a series of photos on them, that had been in many different galleries world wide.

i don’t think i’ll ever get a tattoo.

it’s just not my thing.

but if i do, i’m going straight cholo style.

i love the style of cholo gang tattoos.

especially the mara salvatrucha.

nice work.
