black history month: day 7

February 7, 2010

The more you learn about J. Dilla, the more you realize that he was more than an influential hip-hop artist.

He was apparently a wonderful person who touched many lives, not only with his gift of sound but with his gift of love.

I get the feeling that he wanted people to feel as inspired as he was to make positive changes in life.

You can see that.

Even if you never met him.

You feel the sincerity of his offering.

I’m a bit honored to share a birthday with him.

And I hope to one day be apart of the positive flow of music that he helped pioneer.

Happy Black History Month J. Dilla.

And Happy Birthday.

Wherever you are.
