dead can dance goes in

March 13, 2012

dead can dance is an amazing band.

lisa gerrard ,who is one of the singers in the band ,plays the hell out of the hammered dulcimer in rakim.

i’ve probably listened to 1:59 to 2:30 a million times.

it feels like the nucleus of the song to me, everything else compliments that part.

the group no longer performs together.

these videos are from 1994.

before the internet days, i used to think that this band was indian.

east indian, american indian, something indian.

i was very surprised to learn that they were not.

i also learned that other than the english words that you hear in their songs, they are singing non-lyrical vocals.

simply beautiful sounds that compliment the music.

below is cantara in which lisa sings about nothing and makes it sound like it’s the  most important thing you’ll hear.
