i have crossed oceans of time to find you

September 24, 2012

It’s time for Bram Stoker’s Dracula again!

This particular scene from the film is stunning.

I find myself watching scenes from this movie over and over every fall.

Gary Oldman is captivating as Dracula.

He makes you feel such compassion for him, even though he is basically the prince of darkness.

His delivery of the Romanian he speaks to Mina is seductive.

One line in particular gives me chills every time,

“Tu eşti dragostea vieţii mele… vieţii mele.”

Translation: you are the love of my life… my life.

Wow, Dracula really lays it on thick.

And who can forget the best line spoken in film history,

“I have crossed oceans of time to find you.”

I mean, who can say no to a man that reveals such things?

I can never post about this film without mentioning two very important people.

Wojciech Kilar who wrote the score.

And the late Eiko Ishioka who designed the costumes.

I’ve read that Gary Oldman has said he didn’t have the best time making this film.

Despite that, I hope he knows that he gave us one hell of a performance.

Thank you Gary.
